Dear friends of Everson Orthopedic, please keep our physical therapist, Beth Radinsky, in your prayers. We recently received very difficult news that Beth has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer with multiple metastases. This was quite a surprise to all involved. The first course of action was for Beth to have a right total hip replacement as cancer had spread to this area. This needed to be done before proceeding with specific treatment for the cancer. Her diagnosis includes lung cancer that has also spread to her liver and bones. She is in good spirits but has a long battle ahead of her. Beth’s family has established a blog on Caring Bridge for her to keep us all updated. Feel free to read about how well she’s doing here. Please leave a comment on our Facebook page or call the office if you would like to show your support. Thank you.

For many years, a substantial percentage of our patients have been seen for chronic pain problems. It could be said that our practice was truly built on providing more comprehensive physical therapy care for such patients. While we also provide outstanding physical therapy services for people with acute injuries and following surgery, we continue to be known for our work with chronic pain patients. There is a wide variety of reasons why people develop chronic pain problems. Our facility is usually not the first place these patients are seen. They have often seen a combination of medical doctors, other physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, or other practitioners. The key to our success is providing more individualized care with emphasis on “hands-on” work, appropriate exercise, and patient education. Patients frequently inform us that, prior to their experience with us, no one had spent so much time with them in evaluating, treating, and explaining their problems. Within the limits imposed by various insurance plans, we are dedicated to providing this unique physical therapy service to all of our patients.

The majority of our chronic pain patients have spine-based problems. This includes headaches and neck pain, upper or lower back pain, pain through the pelvis and hip areas, or various combinations. Substantial progress is often achieved through our Spine Rehabilitation Program. We work diligently to improve movement-related dysfunction of the spine and extremities in order to achieve the best results with painful and function-limiting problems.

While anyone with pain would naturally like to have complete pain relief and unlimited functional ability, most chronic pain patients realize this is not necessarily realistic. However, they do realize that decreasing their pain as much as possible and improving their functional abilities as much as possible will substantially improve their quality of life. Some of our chronic pain patients do achieve such great results that they feel they are “cured”. Others are not “cured” but still achieve major lasting improvements that substantially improve their quality of life. It cannot be over-emphasized how important this can be!

We also will gladly make recommendations regarding other practitioners who may be able to provide further help with chronic pain issues. Many patients are best served by having their problems addressed from two or more methods of intervention. People with chronic pain issues who are firmly committed to an active role is their own rehabilitation along with the right professional help can dramatically improve quality of life. If you or someone you know would be interested in our program, give us a call! Find out why we say: We ARE Different!! It DOES Matter!!
